The international streetlifting Federation (ISF) issued a statement regarding the possible cancellation of the competition due to the coronavirus epidemic.
“We are closely monitoring information about the spread of the virus. Ensuring the safety of our athletes, spectators and officials is a top priority for our organization. We strive to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection and minimize changes in the competition calendar.
In recent days, the situation has worsened, and many countries have faced a critical situation. Many sporting events have been canceled. Therefore, we want to inform fans about the (potential) consequences for our sport.
The ISF as a regulatory body will follow restrictions imposed by local authorities and international organizations such as the world health organization.
Any possible ISF decision to change the schedule will be made in accordance with the policy of the local authorities or organizers. We are in close contact with the organizing committees of future ISF events in Russia, Greece, Algeria, Colombia, etc.
The ISF continues to monitor the situation and maintains regular contact with health authorities to provide you with the latest available information.
If the situation changes, the ISF will notify all participants of streetlifting competitions as soon as possible, ” the organization said in a statement.
